Are You Making The Most Of Your Day?
What activities give you the best return on your investment?

Are You Living Every Minute To Its Fullest?

Potential.  We all have potential.  We all have something we are meant to do in this life.  We all have the same 24 hours in a day, seven days a week.

So, what separates those who excel and those who choose to live a mediocre life?

There are several things, but today we are focusing on our use of the time we have been given.

How do you spend your time?  How do you spend your free time?  If to look at those who excel and develop success in life, and those who don’t, how each group spends their free time makes all the difference.

Let’s face it, we are all busy and we all have responsibilities.  But, we also all have some free time each day.  Sometimes it falls between breakfast and leaving for work or school.  Sometimes it is ten minutes while you are waiting at an appointment.  Much of the time is in the evening before bed.

Whether it is ten minutes or an hour or two, how do you spend this precious time?

Are you spending it on social media or the boob tube?  Or, are you reading, educating yourself and developing personal growth?  Are you mastering something?  Are you contributing to another human being or to a good cause?

Do you spend your time planning the next show to watch or game to play?  Or, are you planning your schedule for the next day?

What activities do you think will give you the best return on your investment?

If you consider each activity, big or small, ask yourself, “What is this doing for my future, for my priorities and success or how is this helping me to reach my goals in life?  How am I influencing or helping other people?”  Stop and think about this.

Pause and contemplate the question.

Maybe, you need to make some adjustments.  Maybe you need to rethink your priorities or refresh yourself or the goals you have set.  Or, maybe you need to set some new goals!

This self-evaluation will help you to rise above mediocrity and live a much richer life.

Every minute we have been given is a gift, and not one of them can be gotten back once they have ticked away.

You have been given an awesome gift.  Don’t waste it on less than awesome activities!

3 Requirements For Working From A Home Office

There are two typical thoughts when someone hears that you are working from your home office.

1)  You have all the time in the world to lay around, do what you want when you want, and you are just lucky.

2)  That’s not a “real” job!

Both of those stereotypes couldn’t be further than the truth!

In order to be a successful business person working out of your home you need skills and character many 9-5 jobs don’t require.  Money does not just come in the mail if you are doing nothing.  Just like you don’t get a check if you don’t clock in for a traditional job.

If we consider what a job is: the work that a person does regularly in order to earn money, according to Merriam-Webster, we would acknowledge that you can do this working as an employee for someone, or working for yourself.  You can do this in an office, store or out of your home.

Unfortunately, most people are afraid of not having the security, which today, many realize is really a false sense of security, of knowing what their monthly income will be.  So, they live paycheck to paycheck, unable to get ahead.

Yes, there is more flexibility and opportunity for growth when you own your own business and work out of you home office, but it doesn’t come without a price.

If you are thinking about working out of your home office, consider these 3 requirements if you hope to succeed.

1)    You Must Be Relentlessly Self- Directed And Self-Motivated

If you cannot discipline yourself and control your own actions and what you spend time on, you might as well not even start.  Working for yourself requires you to motivate yourself and not rely on someone telling you what to do and when to do it.

Will you get up when you feel like sleeping in, and you can, because you are working from home?

Will you pick up the phone and make the calls?

Will you turn off the TV in the evening so you can invest in personal growth?

If you struggle doing those things, you will have a continual uphill climb and you won't get too far.

2)    You Must Be Persistent And Willing To Grow From Failure Rather Than Quit

If you are not hungry for success, you will not succeed in the long run.  There will be ups and downs and if you are not willing to get up and learn from mistakes or failures, you will end up quitting.

Many people look at successful home business owners and think they got where they by luck.  There is no luck.  It is hard work and a tenacious spirit that got them there.  I hear all the time, “I wish I could do what they do or be where they are.”  Well, that usually is not true because they are not willing to do what others did to get there.

3)    You Must Be Able To Focus And Draw A Line Between Work And Home

One of my biggest struggles is drawing a line between work and home.  This is difficult because you are, in a sense, like a doctor, often on call at all hours of the day and evening.  This has its benefits, but also, drawbacks.  You may be inconvenienced at times, but you also have the freedom to schedule things how you want.

Setting hours to work can help a great deal for the work you do from your home office.  This will help distinguish work time and home time when you are at home.

Working from a home office can be very rewarding, but it takes hard work and self-discipline.  If you can motivate yourself and are willing to persist, even in spite of the ups and downs, you can experience freedom and be in control of your own destiny.

The Joy Of Random Acts Of Kindness

Many people get frustrated when the car in front of them doesn’t hit the gas fast enough when the light turns green.  We rush to the door of Caribou if we eye someone else coming so we can get in line first.

Even as I read that first paragraph negative emotions are aroused inside of me.  Did you feel the same?  Impatience?  Frustration?  Greed?

Instead, next time take a deep breath and release that impatience and frustration, and maybe consider opening the door to let the other person go in first.

Reading that paragraph was much more peaceful and pleasurable!

Giving and being of service to others is not only kind, but personally rewarding.

Acts of service, especially unexpected act of service, are a breath of fresh air in a world stagnant with selfishness.

If you want your life to be sweeter, try making someone else's life sweeter!  Remember, we reap what we sow!

Find joy in serving, giving and doing random acts of kindness!  You will be a blessing to someone else and you, in turn, will feel an enormous blessing inside as well.

Give an unexpected gift to show your appreciation for good service or just that you care.  Flowers, a gift card, an unusually large tip or even just a cup of coffee.

The main thing is to give selflessly and do not expect anything in return.  Then your joy will be full!
The energy of kindness usually is quite contagious.

Are you willing to commit to doing a random act of kindness this week?  How about today?

Here are a few suggestions:

-    Buy coffee or a meal for the person behind you
-    Open the door for someone
-    Buy socks for a homeless person
-    Donate things you no longer use to charity
-    Leave $5 in the restroom when the cleaner is in there
-    Buy someone a beautiful bouquet of flowers
-    Say thank you and leave amazing reviews
-    Tell five people that you are grateful for the today
-    Commit to texting, calling or writing one person a day and tell them how you appreciate them

Enjoy life more by doing random acts of kindness on a weekly or even a daily basis!

Make Your Life A Masterpiece!

Most aspiring artists have a mentor or two and if we desire to create a masterpiece of our lives, we also need a mentor.

Jim Rohn has been a mentor in my life, even though I never met him.  I have been inspired by many things that Mr. Rohn has written, and I would like to share some of the value I have gained and help personalize it for you life.

One thing Jim Rohn noticed that people did was to break their lives down into two major parts:  wealth-building and the rest of their lives

Wealth-building is just math, but life is art!

Math is hard facts and there is only one answer to every problem.  Math is a science.  It is based on formulas and you can know the outcome before anything happens.  The beauty of math is that you know what to expect.  If you work the system, you can put it on autopilot and let the math do the work for you.

Art, on the other hand is more subjective.  There is no right answer and “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”  The beauty of art is that you never know how it will turn out.

Life
is like art and there can be many different styles, and those styles can be ever changing and evolving.

In our lives, different people are like different colors.  If you make a mistake you can learn from it, change it or even paint right over it.  You can also change the scenery in your life or pick up a different brush or use different media.  The pot can go right back on the wheel and be reshaped.

There are many famous artists and they all have different styles.  That’s what makes life beautiful.  What is your style?  Are you painting, sculpting or building?  What is the shape of your pot or the color on your canvas?

Reflecting on your life, do you spend more time on math or art?

We all need to do both and it is important to do your best in math, your wealth-building plan, so that you can take care of yourself and your family.  But are you spending too much time doing math that your canvas is empty or drab?

When your life draws to an end, it is the canvas that will live on into future generations.  Whether great artists died wealthy or poor, people remember them for the art they left behind.

If we do our math correctly, we’ll have more time to focus on our art!  We will have more opportunity to try different media and our work will be much more scenic.

Use bold strokes and brilliant colors.  Take the time to make a beautiful masterpiece!

What Would You Give For A Million Dollars?

We have all heard people say, “I’ll do this or that for a million dollars.”  Unfortunately it is usually
something outrageous and a one-time thing.  If you want a million dollars, you will have a better chance of reaching that goal by taking consistent smaller steps each day.

Many look at a person who is fit and say, “I wish I had a body like that.”  But then they turn the TV station and reach for another handful of chips,. rather than going for a walk or fixing a salad.

How many times have you heard, “If only I had done things differently,” and then you see them continue in the same direction, not changing a thing?

All of these situations have one thing in common – people who are not willing to change and take action to achieve what they want.  You cannot expect to make more money, improve your health or change your life if you are not willing to change your thinking and your daily actions.

You can know for certain that you will be in the same place tomorrow if you do the same things today that you did yesterday.

What are you willing to do differently to save or earn more money, improve your health or fitness level or grow in your relationships?  Are you willing to make some changes today so tomorrow can be better?  What are you willing to invest?  Are you willing to give 10 minutes a day to a new activity?  How about 20 minutes?  Are you willing to invest in some education so you can be better able to accomplish you desires?  Will you read a book this week? Will you cut out some carbs and sugar?  Will you sacrifice a trip to the coffee shop or a new pair of shoes?  What are you willing to do?  You don’t need to donate a kidney, just make a few changes.  Start a few new habits and get rid of an old one.

What are you really willing to do to make a million dollars or to lose some extra weight?

3 reasons Why You Should Complete Your Project Now

Is there a good reason why you should complete your project now?  Maybe putting it off another day won’t be so bad.  There is always tomorrow, right?

Not if you want to be successful!  Your projects need to be completed now, or at least you need to be taking steps now to complete them.

Consider these 3 reason why you should complete your project now.

1)    Discipline – All successful people are disciplined.  Whether your project is big or small, completing it now will help you refine your discipline and it will set you up for more success in the future.  Discipline breeds discipline, just as inactivity breeds more inactivity.  Create a disciplined life and achieve more of your goals!

2)    Satisfaction – Every time you complete a project it gives you a sense of satisfaction.  This will also inspire you to tackle another project and your productivity will just keep moving forward, duplicating success after success.

3)    Tomorrow may never come.  “Tomorrow” may never come because tomorrow will become today and the vicious cycle will continue.  You will reap what you sow!  You need to sow today.

As the saying goes, “Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today!”

What is on your list to get done today?

If you complete what you have planned for today, you will be one step closer to achieving your goal tomorrow.  Success breeds success, and success leaves clues.  Duplicate your success and leave some clues for other people to follow!

Is Your Day Planned By Your Vision Or By Your Emotions?

Successful people are willing to do what unsuccessful won’t do.  This doesn’t mean that successful people always feel like doing what needs to be done.  The difference is, they choose to do what needs to be done because their vision and their end goal is very important to them.  Their vision causes them to do what is necessary.  They do not allow themselves to succumb to their feelings.

When you dream a dream and put your vision down on paper, you start off with a lot of excitement and energy.  Unfortunately when you experience the first bump in the road or you wake up and don’t feel like doing anything, the excitement fades.  Instead of getting up and doing what you know needs to be done for the day, your day’s activities change according to how you feel.

How you feel should be irrelevant if you have an end goal in mind.  Successful people do not operate on how they feel.

If you operate on how you feel when you get up, those emotions will cause you to go all over the place.  You will be changing direction every few weeks, depending on how you feel.

It is essential that you solidify your vision and don’t base your actions on how you are feeling!

Is your vision strong enough to pull you through?
